KATHMANDU, Feb 3: As the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) is gearing up its effort to distribute the second tranche of reconstruction grants to the earthquake victims in the 14 most-affected districts, Village Development Committee (VDC) secretaries across the country have halted their works from Thursday.
RAJBIRAJ, Jan 18: Bindulal Chaudhari, secretary of Manraja VDC of Saptari district, disappeared for around four months with the VDC’s social allowance budget of Rs 2.2 million. His disappearance forced locals to seek his whereabouts and a delegation reached out to District Development Committee (DDC) with the complaint. DDC looked out for him but failed to locate.
KATHMANDU, Nov 27: The Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development has on Sunday directed the VDC secretaries of the 14 districts highly affected by the earthquake to limit themselves to their respective work stations.
GORKHA, July 1: Around 200 households of Kerauja VDC in Gorkha district have been displaced after their settlements were threatened by landslides triggered by heavy rains this week. The VDC, which lies in northern part of the district, is located at an altitude of 2,300 meters. It takes two days on foot to reach Kerauja from the district headquarters.
