Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli made a rather worrying statement on Monday.

KATHMANDU, Oct 14: Salt Trading Corporation (STC) sold sugar at Rs 82 per kg at this time last year. Retail price of the sweetener is more or less the same at department stores and retailers at present even though sugar price has come down by about 40 percent in international market.

KATHMANDU, Oct 7: Government in the past allowed Salt Trading Corporation (STC) to import sugar at subsidized custom rates and supply it in a bit to regulate sugar prices in the market.

KATHMANDU, Oct 6: Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Matrika Yadav has said that the directive from the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to cap the price of sugar at Rs 63 per kilogram cannot be implemented.
