NEPALGUNJ, July 4: Dr Dhawal Shamesher Rana has returned to power in Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City after about two decades. Elected to the then Nepalgunj Municipality as a mayor representing CPN-UML in the local level elections held in 1997, Rana has emerged victorious in the race for the mayor of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan city held on June 28 representing Rastriya Prajatantra Party(RPP).
DHARAN, July 3: Vote count has resumed in Dharan Sub-metropolitan City at 11 am after a hiatus of 4 hours. Vote counting had been halted from 7 am after Nepali Congress(NC) representatives did not reach the vote counting place in the pre-determined time as a sign of their dissatisfaction with the way vote counting is being conducted.
ITAHARI, July 1: Nepali Congress(NC) mayoral candidate Rohit Prasai is taking the lead in the race for the mayor of Itahari Sub-metropolitan city. Prasai has secured 3384 votes, compared to 3154 votes garnered by his closest rival CPN-UML mayoral candidate Dwarika Lal Chaudhari.
DANG, June 29: CPN-UML is taking the lead in two sub-metropolitan cities in Dang district. UML mayoral candidate Naru Lal Chaudhari is taking the lead with 107 votes, compared to 30 votes garnered by his closest rival Maoist Center mayoral candidate Jiban Gautam in Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan City.
KATHMANDU, June 12: Sajha Party has fielded Professor and social worker Dr Tara Kafle and journalist and human right activist Prakash Chandra Pariyar for mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates respectively for Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City .
