POKHARA, Dec 15: Nepali Congress (NC) heavyweights who contested the parliamentary and provincial elections from Province 4, including the party's senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel, faced humiliating defeats.

NEPALGUNJ, July 5: Major political parties have lost their traditional strongholds in various districts of Province 5 and 7 in the June 28 local level elections.

BIRATNAGAR, July 5: Letang, Sundarharicha and Ratuwamai rural municipalities of Morang were once known as the stronghold of the CPN-UML. In every election, the party would emerge victorious. But the results of the local elections held recently clearly disappointed the party, signaling that other parties too are making in-roads into the strongholds of CPN-UML.
