NUWAKOT, Dec 10: Another senior leader of Nepali Congress succumbed to a defeat in Nuwakot. Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, former finance minister lost by more than 8000 votes against rival Hit Bahadur Tamang of CPN (Maoist Center) in Constituency-1.

BIRATNAGAR, Dec 8: While Morang-6 was considered a strong hold of Nepali Congress, the Left Alliance are leading in all the six constituencies, primary vote counting of House of Representatives shows.

UML wins Nepali Congress’s stronghold

POKHARA, Dec 8: The Nepali Congress outweighed CPN-UML at Manang. However, this time, UML has broken Nepali Congress’s win after Polden Chopang Gurung, CPN-UML’s district chairperson defeated NC’s Tek Bahadur Gurung. Polden garnered 2300 votes while Gurung had 2021 votes. In 2064’s election, Dev Gurung of CPN-Maoist had won the election.

ROLPA, Nov 3: The CPN (Maoist Center) still has a strong hold in Rolpa district, the place of origin of the decade-long armed Maoist conflict. BIRATNAGAR, July 5: Nepali Congress (NC) has breached the CPN-UML 'red fort' comprising Letang, Sundarharaicha and Ratuwamai Municipalities as well as Kerabari Rural Municipality in Morang, in the second phase local polls. NC has also taken the lead in Belbari and Urlabari, another UML stronghold.

ROLPA, July 2: The Maoist grip on Rolpa, the district known as the center of origin of the decade-long armed insurgency, seems to be loosening with other parties making strategic wins in the recently held local elections in the district.

RAMPUR, July 2: Raman Bahadur Thapa of Nepali Congress (NC) has been elected the mayor of Rampur Municipality, which is believed to be a CPN-UML stronghold.
