KATHMANDU, Sept 16: The benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index hovered slightly in green in the opening hours after Tuesday’s trading session. However, extended profit booking pulled the index sharply lower in the afternoon where the index fell as much as 10 points. The index found some footing in the latter hours recouping some of the earlier losses but closed in the red nonetheless. Nepse fell 4.47 points at the session’s close to end at 1,536.04 points.

KATHMANDU, Aug 31: After a positive start to Monday’s session, the local bourse traded firmly in green for the entire trading hours. The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index hovered 10 points higher for the first trading hour. Stocks saw further strength after mid-day and witnessed a steady climb with Nepse trading over 30 points higher in the afternoon. Following a brief correction at the close, the major average ended the day at 1,484.99 – up 22.31 points against the session earlier.

KATHMANDU, Aug 18: The stock market moved to the upper side within the first few minutes of trading on Tuesday and shot 12 points. However, the wave of selling pressure dragged the index back to red by the end of the first trading hour. But a steady advance followed suit at mid-day and continued its positive bias throughout the session.  At the end, the benchmark Nepal stock exchange (Nepse) index closed with a gain of 5.68 points to close the session at 1407.89 points.

KATHMANDU, Aug 17: After opening slightly higher in the morning, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index pulled back towards the red to trade over 6 points lower at mid-day. However, the latter trading hours saw the index make a steady recovery to hover flat in the afternoon. A last hour surge finally helped the index register a gain of 10.75 points to close at 1,402.21 points.

KATHMANDU, Aug 16: A sharp fall in the morning saw the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index sink over 27 points in the first few minutes of Sunday’s trading session. Some volatility ensued thereafter as the benchmark partially recouped earlier losses within the first half an hour of trading. The Nepse index hovered in the red after mid-day finally settling below the 1,400-point mark at 1,391.46 points. The day’s loss tally was recorded as 17.33 points.

After a recovery attempt, losses worsened further as the index traded almost 30 points lower in the afternoon. However, the exchange found some ground towards the close recouping some of earlier losses. Nepse ended at 1,382.25 points – down 21.61 points against previous close.

KATHMANDU, July 28: Nepse witnessed a relatively subdued trading on Tuesday. Despite opening higher and gyrating between gains and losses in the morning, stocks remained under pressure throughout the afternoon's session. The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) benchmark index shed 7.59 points to end Tuesday’s trading at 1,454.89 points.

KATHMANDU, July 23 : Though some early selling pressure was visible, the stock market recouped its initial losses to trade in green by mid-day on Thursday. Thereafter, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index traded in green in the latter trading hours. Following the afternoon advance, the benchmark ended the day with a gain of 10.13 points at 1,442.61 points.

KATHMANDU, July 21: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) opened the session slightly higher but gave up the gains quickly as the trading began. A recovery attempt saw the index turn green in the first hour but selling pressure after midday pushed the index towards red. At the close, Nepse fell 14.99 points to end Tuesday’s trading at 1,449.94 points.

KATHMANDU, July 13: After shooting up by over 12 points in the initial trading on Monday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index pared its gains to trade flat at mid-day. Stocks then wavered around the opening level in the latter trading hours as Nepse ended slightly higher. The benchmark added 2.12 points to close at 1,342.40 points.

KATHMANDU, July 7: Market sentiment remained firmly bullish throughout the trading session on Tuesday. The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index shot up by 30 points within the first half an hour of trading. Following a minor pullback at mid-day, the stock market witnessed a steady advance in the late afternoon to close Tuesday’s trading firmly higher. Nepse settled at 1,336.66 points – up 37.93 points against the previous session.

KATHMANDU, July 6: Stocks traded flat in the first trading hour on Monday. Nonetheless, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index witnessed a steady surge after midday adding more than 20 points. The benchmark plateaued somewhat in the afternoon until a final hour advance drove the market over 33.27 points higher. Nepse closed Monday’s trading at 1,298.73 points.

KATHMANDU,July 3: Since the onset of the pandemic-driven slump from the first week of March, Nepal’s equity market has lost over 25 percent of its capitalization. The rout persisted for weeks ahead and amidst the lockdown, bringing the index close to its multi-year low. However, with the government relaxing restrictions on movements, the Nepal Stock Exchange restarted trading on June 29.

KATHMANDU, June 30: Nepse witnessed one of its best days since March as the pandemic fear among investors seems to have subsided fairly. Sentiment remained positive since the opening of Tuesday’s trading.

KATHMANDU, Jan 29: After climbing over 16 points to 1,316 points in the morning, the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index pulled back slightly at mid-day. The index then wavered around 1,310 points in the latter trading hours. Following the choppy trading session, Nepse closed the day at 1,306.15 points – up 5.52 points against the session earlier.

Nepse crosses 1,300 points

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: Trading began on a positive note on Thursday as the benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index shot up by more than 18 points. However, the market pulled back marginally within the first trading hour but still managed to stay in the green territory. After trading at around 1,300-point level for more than an hour, a final surge witnessed in the secondary market pushed the Nepse index 26 points higher at 1,310.23 points.

Nepse opens week with 16-point rally

KATHMANDU, Jan 6: The local stock exchange saw strength since the beginning of trading on Sunday. The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index climbed over 8 points in the initial trading hour and plateaued at midday. Another surge toward the close propelled the benchmark index 16.09 points higher to its three-month peak of 1,182.31 points.

KATHMANDU Jan 2: Stocks remained little changed on the first trading day of 2020. After trading essentially flat in the first half of the trading session, stocks gained some ground and pushed the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index slightly higher. Nepse eventually closed the day 3.47 points higher at 1,169.50 points.

KATHMANDU, Dec 13: After showing lack of direction in morning trading, stocks witnessed significant strength after midday. The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index climbed to as high as 1,175 points in the afternoon, but pulled back slightly. At the close, the index was 11.17 points higher to end the day at 1,172.64 points.
