MARTADI, July 19: Several bridges over the Karnali and the Budhiganga rivers, the two major rivers in Bajura district, are at high risk due to erosion. The bridge each at Taprisera, Dwari, Tipada and Rapak over the Budhiganga river are at risk.
TIKAPUR, July 8: With the level of water rising in the rivers, dolphins have been spotted in the confluence of Mohana and Pathraiya rivers of Tikapur Municipality-7. The locals said they saw the dolphins on Sunday.
CHITWAN, June 1: Bharatpur Metropolitan City collects around 65 tons of waste on a daily basis. After collecting the garbage, the metropolis dumps it on the banks of the Narayani River. It has been nine years since the local unit has been dumping the waste on the river bank in ward 4.
BANKE, May 8: Illegal mining of stones is going on unchecked from a community forest near Lalpur of Rapti Sonari rural municipality-7 in Banke district. This activity which has been going on since long at the Chure hill falling under the Mandapawa community forest has resulted in the depletion of the environment in the area.
FLORIDA, May 4: A Boeing 737 commercial jet with 136 people on board slid into the St. John’s River near Jacksonville, Florida after landing on Friday, a spokesman for Naval Air Station Jacksonville said.
NAWALPARASI, April 12: Illegal mining of river products has continued unabated in the Narayani River from Nawalparasi side. Locals complained that the concerned authority is exercising silence even when the river products are being unlawfully extracted and exported to India.
GORKHA, Mar 1: The District Coordination Committee (DCC) of Gorkha has made an attempt to stop the rampant extraction of construction materials from its rivers. Following complaints from various quarters about the use of heavy equipment in the extraction, the DCC has fixed time for such activities.

RAUTAHAT, Aug 27: Locals have accused Pappu Construction for Saturday’s boat capsize in Lalbakaiya River of Rautahat. At least two people were killed and three are missing. Locals said the contractor’s failure to complete the construction of a bridge over the Lalbakaiya River on time forced people to use boat to cross the river so the contractor was also responsible for the accident.
KATHMANDU, Aug 5: Three children who had dived into the Marsyangdi River at Besisahar Municipality-1 have gone missing. Yogendra Rimal, 15, Anjit Thapa, 16, and an unidentified child have been reported missing since Saturday after reportedly drowning in the river. They are feared dead.
DHADING, July 27: The driver of a private car, Ba 14 Cha 3758 was killed while two others sustained minor injuries car plunged into the Trishuli River at Gajuri rural municipality-6, Jarima of Dhading.
DOTI, July 22: A mother who apparently jumped into river along with her three children in Doti district has been missing since the last four days. However, one of her sons has been rescued by a local fisherman.
KATHMANDU, July 15: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has predicted flash floods in the rivers of hilly districts due to incessant rains, urging people living near the river banks and surrounding areas to remain alert to such possibility.
MAHENDRANAGAR, July 9: Prem Rawat, 19, originally from Sherdaha Rural Municipality who was studying in Mahendranagar, has gone missing while bathing in the Mahakali River. Rawat was staying at his uncle Udaya Rawat's house in Ward 9 of Mahakali Municipality.
ITAHARI, July 5: The Sunsari district administration has said that there is no risk of erosion by the Koshi river although the water level in the river has been increasing following rain in various parts of the eastern region.
KATHMANDU, June 29: In yet another incident of road accident today, 17 people including the bus driver sustained injuries after a local bus lost control and veered into the Sesmati River at Balaju. The bus (Ba 3 Ka 3749) was heading to Ratnapark from Dharmasthali.
LAMJUNG, June 27: Construction of a concrete bridge over the Mardi River along the Beshisahar-Chame road section is being is being escalated to complete before the end of current fiscal year. Road Division Office (RDO) in Damauli confirmed the report.
LALITPUR, May 17: River-induced disasters are causing a big loss of lives and property in the country every year but there is no Water Act in place to regulate the human encroachment on rivers and water bodies.
KHOTANG, May 13: Police have recovered the body of Suman Shrestha, 12, one of the three children, who was swept by the Sun Koshi River on May 5. Shrestha’s body was retrieved four kilometers away after it was washed ashore. The three children were swept by the river as they swam while herding goats.
SINDHUPALCHOWK, May 3: The district authorities found reluctant to control the extraction of river products from Indrawati River. Rampant extraction of sands, pebbles, and stones has diverted the water flow in the river.
PALPA, April 14: Two teenage boys have gone missing while taking a bath in the Kaligandaki River in Palpa Saturday. They arrived at Ranimahal, the historic place in the district, to celebrate the Nepali New Year.
UDAYAPUR, April 8: After the locals protested against the construction of airport by cutting down trees from local community forest, the Triyuga Municipality is mulling to use the wasted lands along Triyuga and Luhale rivers for the proposed Sagarmatha Airport.
