Punjab and Haryana high court says sell convicts’ assets

CHANDIGARH, March 20: In a rarest of a rare order, the Punjab and Haryana High Court ruled that death sentence was not enough and properties of convicts in heinous crime cases should be sold for recovery of a heavy fine to be slapped on them.

KANCHANPUR, March 12: After two cases of destruction of evidence and torture were filed last Wednesday against the police officials involved in the investigation of the Nirmala rape-and-murder case, the District Court, Kanchanpur, on Monday completed recording the statements of six of the eight police personnel who have been accused of the crime.
