DHADING, April 22: Ram Sharan Tripathi of Siddhalek Rural Municipality Ward-4 in Dhading has been involved in farming for the past 25 years. Farmers like him had to wait for their turn to use oxen for plowing as there were limited number of oxen in the village. He has now bought a mini tiller which has made things lot easier for him.

Training process of animals used in entertainment is inhumane and cruel. Elephants are trained by scaring them like showing fire and pricking with needle. Likewise, oxen are trained by torturing, beating and captivating.

KATHMANDU, Jan 12: The Rasuwa-Nuwakot Tourism Society has shared information that as many as 65 pairs of oxen were going to fight this year on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti.

DHADING, Aug 1: Until two years ago, Purnaraj Shrestha of Siddhalek Rural Municipality-6 used to plough his field with a pair of oxen. Now he has replaced the age-old tradition with a tractor.

While some of them are preexisting community dogs, the others were abandoned by their owners as they became old, aggressive, or handicapped.
