HUMLA, May 15: Lakshu Bohora of Thehe village of Humla had grown up seeing only a particular community involved in tailoring occupation. Back then she used to think that it is not something she is supposed to do or would do in future. “I used to work in farms and at home. I did not have any other skill to earn for my family,” reminisces Bohora. “I never considered learning tailoring skills as it was perceived that the occupation was done by a specific caste that was considered untouchable.”

BETHLEHEM, July 26: The mural appeared on the separation wall in Bethlehem just days before the 17-year-old activist is due to be released. An unknown artist has painted a mural of Palestinian resistance icon Ahed Tamimi on the Israeli separation wall in Bethlehem, just as her father said she might be released on Sunday after almost eight months of unjust imprisonment.

Until few years ago, pottery used to be the source of livelihood for the Kumal community. Pots that were made by the community were exchanged for millet, rice, maize and other food items. For 95-year-old Laxman Kumar, a resident of Hasintar of Bidur Municipality Ward 5, pottery has been his entire life. People in the community used to sell their creations -- gagro, hadi, gamala, aari, diyo -- exchanging them with the quantity of food items that filled these pots.
