IMPHAL, India, May 8: Some 23,000 people have fled ethnic violence in northeast India that has reportedly killed at least 54 people, the army said Sunday, although there was no new "major violence" overnight.

GUWAHATI, July 16: Floods in northeast India worsened on Tuesday with incessant rain swelling already raging rivers, inundating villages and a rhinoceros sanctuary as 1,000 soldiers were deployed to rescue people fleeing the rising waters.
