Together against coronavirus

February 22, 2020 12:19 pm

Nepal is my second home. This could be surprising for many people. Everyone would aspire to go to developed countries like the United States and the UK and take pride in living in New York, London or Paris, rather than in dusty Kathmandu. I have tried to tell them about snowy mountains, sacred temples, deep beliefs, and kind smiles, but obviously it is difficult to convince others, and not even for myself.

Boosting tourism

February 12, 2020 12:06 pm

Visit Nepal 2020 mega campaign kicked off with fanfare in December last year. It ended as a one-time ritual, just as unattended plantation of vegetation at Tinkune and blacktopping a few kilometers of already passable roads in rapidity, spending millions of rupees like water to impress Chinese President Xi Jinping during his October visit to Kathmandu last year.

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: According to the Department of Tourism (DoT), a total of 25 mountains were successfully summitted by 535 mountaineers this autumn.

All of us know have this idea of a perfect place where we would like to live someday. For some, that place might be in laps of the mountains in Switzerland and for others, it could be by the sea in Pondicherry. We all have our reasons for wanting to live where we want to. It could be the cultural influence of the place, the food it is famous for, or simply the fact that we like what we have seen in photos.

Making time for your interests

It’s no secret that most of us like to travel and we use every opportunity we get to pack our bags and leave for a new place. But when it comes to making those arduous trips to Gosaikunda and Langtang a reality, we tend to find one reason or the other as to why we can’t make it ‘this’ time and keep putting it off. According to Sangharsha Bhattrai, a software engineer, artist, photographer, and traveler, traveling is all about giving up on making excuses and finding reasons to do it however scary and intimidating it might be instead.

The magic of Mardi

March 15, 2019 09:44 am

I left for Mardi Base Camp around the end of October last year, mainly to get away from all the hassles of life in Kathmandu. I had a friend with me and we started our trip from Pokhara that sadly didn’t feel as beautiful as it used to before. I thought Pokhara would refresh me ahead of my trip to Mardi but that wasn’t to be. However, the Mardi trek trail gave me just what I needed – the mountains, clouds and the endless sky made me forget all my worries. It was that blissful.

Despite the pollution and the social injustices, Nepal is one of the best destinations for the people to travel. As #VisitNepal2020 works are running, promotion to the domestic places are equally going. There are lots of travelers who are helping to the goal directly or indirectly. Rishav Adhikari aka Shutter Psycho is one of those avid travelers. He travels and shares his followers on his social media about the stories of his exploration to the secrets of Nepal. He introduces himself as someone who is traveling somewhere all the time. During a chat with MyCity, he shared his experiences and thoughts about his adventure:
