NAWALPARASI, Oct 17: The sample of the iron ore extracted from the Dhaubadi iron mine at Nawalparasi has been found to be of good quality. The government has moved ahead with the iron mine as an important venture. The quality of the ore was found of high quality after carrying out a test in Chengdu of China.
BANKE, May 8: Illegal mining of stones is going on unchecked from a community forest near Lalpur of Rapti Sonari rural municipality-7 in Banke district. This activity which has been going on since long at the Chure hill falling under the Mandapawa community forest has resulted in the depletion of the environment in the area.
LAHAN, Nov 1: During the last local and provincial elections, one of the promises that almost all political parties and leaders made was prioritizing the conservation of nature and wildlife, especially the Chure range. They stated that the Chure range ecosystem had been badly damaged and vowed to take measures to put an end to activities that were deteriorating the ecosystem further. Deforestation and mining of aggregates, sand and stones from river beds and mountains in the Chure region were put forward as the major factors damaging the range’s ecosystem and politicians had pledged to put an end to such activities.
NEPALGUNJ, April 30 : Excavators are seen extracting sands and gravel from Samshergunj area of Rapti river round the clock. Mini and heavy trucks transport them to the crusher machines lined up on riverbanks and from there to their final destinations.
