The other day while walking down Connecticut Avenue, my son said to me, ‘Look this is the same library that you used to bring us to’.  I looked around.  The place seemed familiar with the return book box still standing in the same place.  Apart from that the whole area had changed in the past 29 years.  We went inside and nothing was the same.  It had become two storied and there were lot more books than before. Now the library had really grown big.

KATHMANDU, March 4: The government is planning to announce that Nepal has achieved 100 percent literacy later this year by exaggerating the progress made on the education front.

KHOTANG, Feb 7: As a result of the 'Literate Nepal' mission introduced in 2012, 96.56% people from 15 to 60 years of age are to be declared literate in Khotang, according to the District Education Office (DEO).

Legal literacy has not often been a topic of discussion in the Nepali democracy; nevertheless it is a vital asset with respect to effective implementation of law in the remotest corners of the country.  If every citizen is to be legally literate, and if they could have the fundamental understanding of what the law truly commands, they shall have better access to justice. Therefore, legal literacy is a necessary tool for achieving goals set forth by the constitution.

Participants from as many as seven countries took part in the 7th International Conference on ‘Global Peace through Emotional Literacy in Education and Psychology of Management’ held on Saturday at Prime College, Khusibhu.

KHOTANG, Sept 27: Financial literacy classes are being operated in Rupakot Majhuwagadi municipality of Khotang to help the locals better use the remittance money that enters the district from foreign employment. The classes aim to help the people save and utilize the remittance money by investing it in productive sectors to create a sustainable source of income.

On June 24, Dolakha became the 29th district in the list of districts that have so far been declared ‘literate’ across Nepal.
