UDAYAPUR, Nov 26:  A teenager died after being rammed by a tipper at Chuhade of Triyuga Muncicpality-7 in the district on Sunday night.

RAJBIRAJ, Oct 6: In a bid to stop the rampant excavation in Chure and to save forest resources, the District Forest Office (DFO), Saptari, had banned the extraction of materials in 1km area of the Chure range and the forests there. Despite pressure from the District Development Committee, contractors and various other sectors, the DFO had strictly prohibited the extraction of limestone, stones and other resources from Chure and the adjoining forests. However, stating that the ban imposed by the DFO is illegal, Saptakoshi Municipality of the district has announced to allow extraction of materials from the rivers, which fall within the border of the municipality. This decision has sparked a controversy now.

Demand for closing limestone factory

CHITWAN, Mar 23: People of Kolar at Kalika Municipality-9 in Chitwan have called for closing the limestone factory based in their locality, citing possibility of its adverse effects on their territory and threat to their overall life.

KATHMANDU, Jan 3: A Chinese company has acquired a license for detailed exploration of limestone in Dhading paying Rs 600 million - a record fee that any mine and mineral company have paid.

KATHMANDU, Jan 2: Then prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal decided to award limestone mines to Dangote Cement Nepal Pvt Ltd  on January 8 last year. The decision taken at a meeting of the Investment Board Nepal (IBN), was passed on to the Department of Mines and Geology for implementation. But the Nigerian conglomerate with cement plants in 14  countries was not assigned the mines for setting up its plant that would employ over 1,000 people.

KATHMANDU, June 26: The Department of Mines and Geology has discovered 15 more places having the deposits of iron, copper and limestone.
