A two-day book translation event for Let's Read! Digital Library by The Asia Foundation in Kathmandu initiated from Saturday. According to the press statement released by Let’s Read! Digital Library, academicians, authors, writers, editors, librarians, teachers, volunteers, book readers and students gathered to translate more than 60 children books into the Nepali language.

If he doesn’t talk to anyone but himself, so what! Yes, so what sense does it make if he doesn’t talk to them who often talk the bad sides of others? Who constantly points out other people’s flaws when the group starts getting the heat of the conversation to keep flowing forward? What has he done wrong by isolating himself from these groups? Why do people say him that he has an attitude problem? Why don’t people leave him and let him be in his sound state? Does he have to be in the same group, pull other people’s leg and be among them to continue the talk?

In late 2016, I was travelling in some remote villages of Zimbabwe to interview women living with depression and HIV/AIDS. Most of the women were either widowed or divorced as a result of the conflict and HIV/AIDS. Despite their dual burden of disease and social isolation, their happiness and entrepreneurial spirit was amazing, an inspiring takeaway for me. I had spent two weeks talking hours upon hours with different groups about their struggles with depression and HIV/AIDS. In one conversation, a middle-aged woman asked me, “Does depression exist in your country?”

The term ‘peace’ comes from the Anglo-French ‘pes’, and the Old French ‘pais’, both meaning “peace, reconciliation, silence, agreement. All the religions advocate peace. Before thinking about world peace, we must focus on inner peace. Inner peace refers to a state of being mentally and spiritually at peace.
