KATHMANDU, June 15: The Karnali government has announced to run a program titled ‘One Local Unit, One Grain Storage’ to address the perennial problem of food shortage in the region. Unveiling the province’s budget for fiscal year 2020/21 on Monday, Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning of Karnali Province, Prakash Jwala, said the provincial government has earmarked Rs 550 million to purchase food and manage the costs for supply and storage.

Earlier, in a single day 100 to 50 tourists vehicle used to pass but now transport of tourist vehicle have become completely stopped. The Nagma-Gamgadi road seems empty whole day. According to locals, bus which runs on local route and products loaded trucks only runs from the road.
That Chhaupadi system—whereby girls and women are secluded during menstruation for days and are forced to live in dangerous sheds—is a human cruelty is no brainer. This has resulted in huge social, psychological and physical harm on women. They have suffered isolation, poor hygiene, sexual abuse and even deaths while adhering to this extremely harmful traditional practice.
BIRENDRANAGAR, Feb 27: As she was collecting fodder, Kalpana Acharya fell from a tree on February 16 and broke her leg. The 21-year-old of Sharada Municipality in Salyan district was rushed to a nearby health center, where they said she needed to be airlifted to Kathmandu immediately. Her family and other locals approached the local administration for help. Responding to the pressure, the social development ministry of Karnali Province agreed to bear the expenses and emailed the district administration office.

SURKHET, Jan 18: ‘Bank account for daughters - lifelong security’, a much lauded initiative of Karnali Province, has now gone into implementation, with the provincial government releasing the required funds. In the first phase of the program, the government has transferred a total of Rs 38.4 million to the local levels. The social development ministry dispatched the money to 79 local level entities.
