KATHMANDU, Sept 27: Recent weeks have seen a surge in clashes among juveniles residing in correctional homes across various districts in Nepal, with the unfortunate consequence of two fatalities. These incidents have prompted the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to initiate investigations and closely monitor the situation within juvenile correctional facilities.

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued a mandamus to ensure the prompt resolution of juvenile cases within 120 days in accordance with the law. The SC has directed the district court to expedite the resolution of cases after juvenile cases have been unnecessarily delayed in juvenile correctional houses during judicial custody for preliminary investigation. This decision was made by the full bench of Justices Prakashman Singh Raut, Sapana Pradhan Malla, and Til Prasad Shrestha while addressing a writ petition related to habeas corpus.

SINDHULI, Jan 2: The District Court Sindhuli has convicted a 15 year old boy for the murder of a minor girl and slapped a life imprisonment sentence on him.

BHAIRAHAWA, Feb 22: The District Police Office (DPO), Rupandehi, on Friday, arrested three out of the six inmates of the Bhairahawa based Juvenile Correction Home who broke out of the juvenile home at midnight on February 11.

ROLPA, Mar 15: The District Police Office, Rolpa has taken a 13-year-old boy under control on the charge of raping a six-year-old girl. The boy allegedly raped the girl Monday evening as she was out of her home for playing, police said.

Nine-year-old Shusil Khatri is a third grader at The Rolling Stones School, Bhimsensthan in Kathmandu. He is often found serving tea to the passersby and tourists around Basantapur.
