KATHMANDU, August 13: Women and Social Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives has directed the government to keep record of the people crossing the checkpoints so that it would be easy to curb human trafficking.
The report said that some of the tangible achievements Nepal made toward combating human trafficking include ratification of the Palermo Protocol, steps taken to amend the Human Trafficking and Transportation (Control) Act, and efforts to give continuity to raise awareness on trafficking.
BHADRAPUR, Jan 31: Two women being taken to India for alleged human trafficking were rescued from the Kakarbhitta point along the Nepal-India border. It is learnt that they had been promised good jobs in India before being convinced to cross the border which could not be possible due to timely police intervention.

KATHMANDU, June 29: Female children are more vulnerable than male children to going missing, according to the Children Search Coordination Center (CSCC) unit of Nepal Police. The CSCC says a total of 3,204 children - 2,226 females and 978 males - have been reported missing till mid-June of the current fiscal year. Of these children, only 440 male children and 1,012 female children who had gone missing under various circumstances could be rescued, says Inspector Mohan Bikram Dahal at the CSCC .

KATHMANDU, May 26: After a series of failed attempts to yet again lure Thai police into releasing him, alleged notorious human trafficking racket operator Prashu Ram Gurung was finally deported back to Nepal on Saturday.
She had wanted to travel to Kuwait to find employment as a domestic worker. “Everyone used to go for work there and earn lots of money and send money to their families,” said the 33-year-old from Nepal’s Surkhet district. Her husband’s income as a marginal farmer was not enough to run the household and pay for the education of their four children, and there were few employment opportunities in Nepal for a school-dropout like her.
MAHENDRANAGAR, Dec 13: Children were among the 200 people who were rescued by Maiti Nepal in 2018 from Gadda Chauki and Dodhara Chandani bailey bridge of Kanchanpur district. Of the 200 people rescued and reunited with their families, 95 were children (24 boys and 71 girls). The remaining 105 are women.

Police said she used to lure students willing to pursue their higher studies in Canada but she either sold them or left them stranded in India. The company has been operating for a year but its is not registered at the Ministry of Education.
