KATHMANDU, June 25: Even three years after the 2015 earthquakes, many victims in the Kathmandu Valley remain deprived of the housing grant of Rs 300,000 due to the “National Reconstruction Authority’s inaction” in resolving the land ownership disputes.

According to the announcement, they were to receive grants on par with the earthquake victims. But not a single flood victim has received the grant so far.

The initiation named 'Nepal Housing Reconstruction Project' will benefit over 23 thousand families in the district affected by the 2015 April earthquake. They will receive administrative, technical and social support under the project to rebuild the house.

Task force to monitor housing standards

KATHMANDU, Feb 1: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has formed a seven-member task force to monitor the compliance of building construction in town area and check irregularities in this sector.

KATHMANDU, Jan 3: The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), the body entrusted with the responsibility to carry out survey for identifying earthquake victims eligible for the housing grant, has said that the damage assessment survey in the remaining 17 earthquake-affected districts will be completed only by the first week of February, meaning that the quake victims will still have to wait longer to receive the housing grant.

MYAGDI, Dec 22: The People Housing Program has kicked off in Myagdi with a view to improving the livelihood of economically disadvantaged and below poverty people by increasing their access to healthy and safe residence.
