KATHMANDU, Sept 14: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Tuesday approved US $70 million of financing to improve the livelihood and climate resilience of horticulture farmers in the hilly areas of five provinces in Nepal.

Agronomy, livestock and horticulture are the three major sub-sectors of agriculture. If we review past developmental efforts of Nepali agriculture, we find that agronomy (a branch of agriculture dealing with field-crop production)   was on the top priority in terms of public sector investment and human resource development followed by livestock.

KATHMANDU, March 13: As many as 17 lawmakers have proposed to reject foreign direct investment in primary sectors of agriculture like poultry, fishery, horticulture, animal husbandry, milk processing and beekeeping.
