KATHMANDU, June 18: The government spent only 40.24 percent of the budget allocated for capital expenditure in the first 11 months of the current fiscal year (FY).

Expenditure made by the government on infrastructure and development projects is referred to as public capital expenditure. This spending is primarily focused on areas such as roads, bridges, buildings, communication, energy, and irrigation. Capital expenditure plays a crucial role in boosting production, income, and employment within the economy.

Capital expenditure refers to the financial resources spent on infrastructure development of the country. The government’s capital budget includes funds allocated for the purpose of executing civil works and purchasing land, buildings, furniture, vehicles, plants, and machinery.
