KATHMANDU, Feb 25: The Department of Immigration (DoI) has issued route permits through an electronic system (online) for domestic and foreign tourists going to restricted areas.

GORKHA, Oct 30: There are difficulties in rescuing two foreign tourists from Gorkha due to bad weather. The tourists got altitude sickness when they reached Lumjen Monastery at Ripchet of Chumanubi Rural Municipality-6 in Gorkha district in the course of trekking, and there have been difficulties in rescuing them. One of the two tourists is from Switzerland and the other from the United States, said Chief District Officer Dinesh Sagar Bhusal.

MUGLIN, Oct 25: Foreign tourists who are presently in the tourist city of Sauraha in Chitwan on Tuesday partook in the celebrations of the Bijaya Dashami festival as per the traditions. They observed the festival by receiving Tika and Jamara and the ceremony was organised by the Sapana Village Hotel.

RAMECHHAP, Sept 25: Flights from Manthali of Ramechhap district to Lukla have started from Sunday. The planes of Tara Air, Summit Air and Sita Air made flights from Manthali Airport for the foreign tourists from Sunday.

POKHARA, June 11: Through the annual budget for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023/24, the government announced the goal of increasing the number of foreign tourists entering Nepal to one million in 2023. While stating that the year 2023-2032 will be celebrated as the 'Tourism Decade', Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat  announced the target of bringing 1 million foreign tourists in 2023.

POKHARA, August 2: Tourism entrepreneurs have expressed their objection to the Tourism Act introduced by the Gandaki Provincial government, saying that it will displace tourism businesses instead of establishing them. The Act was passed by the Provincial Assembly last Friday. The entrepreneurs complained that the Act tries to confuse the business rather than making it flourish.

MANANG, Sept 29: The Manang District Administration Office has allowed the entry of foreign tourists into the district amid COVID-19. But the DAO has made it mandatory for the visiting tourists to strictly follow health safety protocols.

Tourists reluctant to go back home

POKHARA, March 29: The District Administration Office of Mustang district sent 58 foreign tourists to Kathmandu on Saturday. But 10 foreign tourists who came in contact with the government officials in the district declined to go back to Kathmandu. They are currently staying in hotels in the district.

CHIWAN, Feb 7: The Regional Hotel Association, Chitwan has urged the foreign tourists to visit Chitwan.

SURKHET, April 13: Karnali Province welcomed 233,021 tourists in Nepali year 2075 i.e. mid-April 2018 to mid-April 2019. The number includes 633 foreign tourists.

RASUWA, Jan 17: Over 300,000 foreign tourists visited Rasuwa in 40 years since the establishment of Langtang National Park (LNP).

ILAM, Oct 25: The government is working to set up an immigration office at the Pashupatinagar checkpoint in Ilam district to allow foreign tourists to enter Nepal through the checkpoint. Local entrepreneurs said the checkpoint would hugely benefit the tourism sector in eastern Nepal.
