DHARAN, Aug1: Homestay business is flourishing in Namje village of Dhankuta district days.

JAJARKOT, May 21: Illicit cultivation of opium poppy is gradually flourishing in the Nalgadh Municipality in Jajarkot district. Locals here are found attracted to opium cultivation with the hope of getting a good return for small investment. A large section of dry land here has been turned into to illegal opium farm.

BUTWAL, April 25: A large amount of fake excise duty stickers entered Nepal through Bhairahawa customs point of Rupandehi a month ago clearing several checkpoints.  Police nabbed the vehicle carrying the fake stickers only after it reached Dhakdahi. Fake excise duty stickers worth around Rs 400,000 was seized from the vehicle. The stickers had the stamp of Inland Revenue Department.

PARBAT, March 3: There was a time when the locals of all 55 VDCs of Parbat had to reach the district headquarters Kushma even for minor recommendations or administrative work. Each time they reached the headquarters, they had to stay there at least for one day. Many people used to come here for business purpose as well. However, after the formation of the local government, the movement of people has decreased significantly in Kushma.

Flutes that are usually played in every traditional ceremony of the Newar community have become a commercial product now. Madhyapur, Thimi-based Nikosera Flute Group in Bhaktapur is touted to be the first commercial flute group.
