NAIROBI, Sept 23: It was a stunning discovery. As rescue divers probed a capsized Tanzanian ferry two days after the disaster and the death toll soared past 200, a man was found in an air pocket, alive.

The death toll was above 130 but horrified witnesses feared that would rise as the second day of searching neared an end.

MANILA, Philippines, Dec 21: Philippine coast guard boats and fishermen worked to rescue more than 200 people on board an inter-island ferry which sank Thursday after being lashed by strong winds and waves off a northeastern province, officials said.

Ferry, in aviation parlance, is a task of delivering an aircraft to a designated location. A new aircraft on its first ferry might mostly carry spares/tools and a few personnel trained for its upkeep. On a day-to-day basis, such flights can be nothing more than “repositioning” of an aircraft due to schedule or maintenance related requirements.
