KATHMANDU, Sept 29: It has been revealed that the number of half the total species of birds, which are considered the indicators of the environmental health of earth, has been rapidly declining and one in every eight species is on the verge of extinction.

KATHMANDU, Feb 21: The Language Commission has started preservation of a total of 37 languages with less than 1,000 native speakers in order to save them from extinction.

Conserving gharial is just one example of how hard it is to protect one species from extinction. There is no undo button once these species are lost.
