BARDIYA, Aug 13: In view of the risk of flooding in the settlements around, the government built a 12-kilometer long embankment along the Karnali River in Bardiaya two years ago.

KATHMANDU, July 15: While venting their ire against the Indian authorities for unilaterally constructing causeways along the border with Nepal, lawmakers from the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) as well as the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) have urged the government to take necessary diplomatic initiatives to resolve the problem of flooding and inundation caused by the unilaterally built ‘embankment-like roads’ by the Indian side along the border.

SAPTARI, July 10: During Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba Friday's visit to flood hit areas in Saptari district, former Minister for Irrigation, Umesh Yadav complained to him of massive embezzlement in the construction of embankment and demanded investigation into it. In response, the PM pledged to form a parliamentary committee to look into the matter.

TILATHI, July 3: Sudden floods in the Khando and other rivers on Saturday inundated over a dozen villages in the northern and southern areas of Saptari district.
