KATHMANDU, April 1: In the process of rebuilding an earthquake-hit temple on the outskirts of Kathmandu on Saturday, locals dug up what is believed to be a Lichchhavi-era stone statue of Hindu god Vishnu and his consort Laxmi.  The locals of Kiritpur Municipality-6, Charghare, which is about 9 kilometers from the capital, were surprised when they found the ancient looking statue while carrying out the reconstruction work at the Jalapadevi temple on Saturday.

ILLAM, August 6: A women's grave was dug out in Maijogmai Rural Municipality-4 of Namsaling in Ilam district on Friday in order to steal her gold ornaments. The necklace was taken off from the grave.

RAUTAHAT, Aug 5: Four children drowned in Rautahat district Saturday in open pits that were dug up for road construction and subsequently abandoned without filling them up. The deceased are all girls age 9 to 12.

KATHMANDU, Feb 3: The Development Committee of parliament has directed the authorities concerned to immediately blacktop road stretches that have been dug up by the Melamchi Water Supply Project for installation of water pipes in various places of the Kathmandu Valley.

BHAKTAPUR, Dec 27: Lives of children, in particular the children of laborers working at various brick factories in Bhaktapur, have been put at risk with pits dug haphazardly in the vicinity claiming lives.
