What Another Dry Winter Means for Nepal

Despite forecasts from the government agencies concerned that Nepal would receive more than the three-decade average rainfall in the 2023-24 winter, it rained very little in Nepal this winter. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the country has received only 12.1 mm of rainfall this winter so far (from 23 December 2023 to 26 February 2024).

BIRGUNJ, July 20: The number of containers coming to Sirsiya Dry Port in Birgunj from third countries via Indian ports increased by nearly 25 percent in Fiscal Year 2017/18. This suggests a healthy growth in the country's third-country imports via the dry port.

RASUWA, Feb 4: Construction work for Rasuwagadhi dry port at Timure, Rasuwa, is set to kick off within the next four months. The port will be located about two kilometers south of the Rasuwagadhi border between Nepal and China.
