KATHMANDU, July 27:  On the eve of the local elections last year, Kathmandu Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya proclaimed in a famous Twitter post that he would ‘make Kathmandu the best city of the world’ within the first hundred days of his tenure if elected to the office.Fourteen months on, Shakya seems to have forgotten those election promises.

KATHMANDU, May 20: A storm is brewing in the newly-formed Nepal Communist Party (NCP) amid allegation that some second-rung leaders from the erstwhile CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) received “an unfair advantage” in the merger between the two parties.

Many leaders whose names were on the closed list but were denied representation at the time of selection have accused their respective leaderships of nepotism and favoritism in the appointments.
