KATHMANDU, Dec 10: Even though cases of violence are largely being reported these days, this does not clearly include cases related to women with disabilities. Due to the lack of support at home and society, women who have physical or mental issues continue to be suppressed and silenced, and it is more so in the rural areas, they say.

Prajwal Limbu, 26, originally from Panchthar, cannot walk normally due to the injury from a bike accident that left him paralyzed. Reminiscing the day of accident Limbu shares, “I was 23 and I had a bike accident. After the accident, I was immediately taken to Grande Hospital for surgery. But due to the injury in my spinal cord, I was left paralyzed.”

JUMLA, Jan 28: District Administration Office (DOA) Jumla, distributed relief materials to differently abled people who were living on the roadside after the mercury dipped to -8 degree Celsius at Khalanga, Jumla's district headquarter. Continuous heavy snowfall for a week has brought normal life to a standstill and affected vehicular movement in the district.

KATHMANDU, Dec 20: Five differently able talents were awarded the ‘Buddha Harmony Bimala Regmi Social Service Award 2018’ with cash worth Rs 10,000 each and a letter of felicitation by the Buddha Harmony Foundation. The award, established by Sandhya Regmi, the Founder President of Buddha Harmony Foundation and the Advisor to the Nepal Spinal Cord Injury Sports Association (NSCISA), is given each every year to distinguished individuals who have contributed tremendously in the field of Social Works despite being physically challenged, as per a press statement released by Buddha Harmony Foundation.
