BIRATNAGAR, May 2: Case against 62 people involved in smuggling of 33 kg gold and murder of Sanam Shakya will be filed at District Court, Morang. The accused will be charged on three counts of crime; kidnapping, attempt to murder and organized crime.

KATHMANDU, Dec 13: CPN-UML has continued its lead in the vote counts of federal and provincial parliamentary elections under the Proportional Representation (PR) electoral system till early this morning.  According to the latest vote count results unveiled by the Election Commission, CPN-UML has secured 1,685,069 votes while Nepali Congress is in second position with 1,593,758 votes.

Jagat Bahadur Shrestha, a farmer by profession, lives in Bijaya basti village in Nepal’s Parsa district. He and his family of five survive on less than a hectare of land from which they eke out a living. Water shortage is characteristic of Parsa district with many villagers abandoning farming of seasonal crops and opting for tobacco as the prime alternative given its need for less water.
