Most indigenous communities proudly include pickles made of bitter gourds in special dishes. The bitter shrub (pati) is considered auspicious and widely used for worship.  Most expensive parties include bitter drinks. To the drinkers, bitter is the new sweet.

Tea farming starts in Dhading

DHADING, July 25: Commercial tea farming has begun in Dhading district for the first time. Local farmers have started cultivating tea in Ward 9 of Nilkantha Rural Municipality.

SURKHET, March 11: Gumi village in eastern Surkhet was popular as 'Lahure Basti' in the past as most of the village youths were working for the Indian Army. Well-off families soon migrated to urban areas, leaving fertile land barren.
