KATHMANDU, July 2: In today's meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR), the Secretary of the HoR, Padam Prasad Pandey, tabled the Bill, 2080 BS to amend some Nepal Acts related to the Civil Code, which originated in the National Assembly and was received with a message.

New law helping men file divorce cases

SINDHUPALCHOWK, Dec 15: Amid reports of growing number of men seeking divorce across the country after the new civil code came into effect, Sindhupalchowk has not remained an exception in this regard. In the last four months since the code came into effect, 19 men in the district have already filed for divorce. According to the court officials, the number is constantly on the rise.

ILAM, Sept 27: Deputy Parliamentary Party leader of Communist Party of Nepal Subash Chandra Nembang has accused the Nepali Congress (NC) of protesting its own decisions taken in the past. “The draft of the Civil Code was prepared by the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government. The NC is protesting the same document. This is surprising,” Nembang told the journalists and party cadres in Ilam district headquarters this morning.

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has announced fresh programs aimed at exerting pressure on the government to consider amendments to the legal provisions in the new Civil Code and Criminal Code. The newly introduced codes, intended to reform the country's legal system, govern the conduct of everybody, rich and poor alike, replacing the 55-year-old Civil Code.
