CDOs still powerful under federal setup

KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Even after the advent of the new constitution in 2015 and elections at local, provincial and federal levels in 2017 to institutionalize federalism in the country, the representatives of the federal government at the districts in the form of Chief District Officers (CDOs) still enjoy huge powers ranging from judicial to executive.

KATHMANDU, April 27: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has transferred 60 officials including the chief district officers in 31 districts on Thursday.

KATHMANDU, Nov 28: The Election Commission (EC) has canceled the decision of the home ministry to transfer six under-secretaries, including three chief district officers (CDOs).  Sending a letter to the ministry on Monday, the election body has asked the government to cancel the transfers immediately.

KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Concerned over the transfers of the chief district officers and senior police officials just ahead of the parliamentary and provincial assembly elections, the Election Commission (EC) on Thursday sought clarifications from the Ministry of Home Affairs along with the documents related to the transfers. The ministry has been asked to furnish clarification in writing within 24 hours.

KATHMANDU, Nov 23: The Election Commission has refused to approve the transfer of Chief District Officer (CDO) of six districts. The EC, on Thursday, has directed Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) to submit the original file of the decision within 24 hours.

Ahead of polls, govt transfers 3 CDOs

KATHMANDU, Nov 22: Ahead of two rounds of crucial elections, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has transferred the chief district officers (CDOs) of three districts. Bhupendra Thapa of Solukhumbu, Jagdish Raj Baral of Nuwakot and Heera Devi Poudel of Rasuwa have been transferred.

Home Ministry transfers 44 CDOs

KATHMANDU, Aug. 24: The Home Ministry on Thursday transferred 44 chief district officers (CDOs).  The Ministry transferred 13 CDOs of Gazetted First Class and 31 others Gazetted Second Class.
