KATHMANDU, Aug 27: The Supreme Court on Monday invalidated the assessment of the Capital Gains Tax (CGT) to be paid by telecommunication company Ncell Pvt Ltd. The Large Taxpayers Office (LTO) had determined on April 16 that the company had to pay Rs 39 billion as CGT including accrued interest and fines.

The exact amount of the figure to be recovered from the telecommunication company and various other issues will be clear when the Supreme Court issues the full text on the verdict.

KATHMANDU, Feb 9: Shares of Axiata Group fell sharply on Friday following a report that the Supreme Court of Nepal has asked the company to pay $530.5 million in capital gains tax following its purchase of Ncell in Nepal, reported Japan's financial newspaper Nikkei Asian Review on Saturday.

KATHMANDU, Feb 7: In a landmark judgment, the Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Ncell and Axiata companies to pay capital gains tax amounting to over Rs 61 billion to the government.
