KATHMANDU, July 11: Police on Tuesday briefly detained 25 human rights activists associated with the Human Rights and Peace Society (Hurpes) who were staging sit-in protests near Singha Durbar against the government decision to ‘curtail democratic freedoms’.

JUMLA, June 30: Crusader for medical education reform and  senior orthopedic surgeon Dr Govinda KC initiated his 15th fast-unto-death, in Jumla on Saturday afternoon. He began the hunger strike under police custody but  was subsequently released .

KATHMANDU, April 13: Supreme Court (SC) staffers on Monday seized the car being used by former Chief Justice (CJ) Kalyan Shrestha and submitted its key to the chief registrar of the apex court, Rajan Bhattarai. The key was returned to Shrestha after few hours.
