KATHMANDU, August 22: With the onset of the rainy season, floods and landslides in the Melamchi River have damaged the road leading to the headworks of the Melamchi water supply project and three temporary bridges.
KATHMANDU, April 8: As many as 24 new bridges are to be constructed over various streams and rivers along the Nagdhunga-Mugling stretch of the Prithvi Highway. The bridges will be of two-lane width. This section of the highway is in the process of expansion and improvement. There are 27 bridges along this section at present.
KATHMANDU, June 25: A massive landslide and a flash flood hit Helambu Rural Municipality and downstream villages of Sindhupalchowk last week. It has almost been 10 days, and it won’t be otherwise to say that Helambu has remained disconnected from the rest of the world since then. Both motorable and suspension bridges have been swept away. There has been no communication network and electricity since June 16.
RASUWA, Feb 27: A total of 32 bridges will be constructed along the Galchhi-Syafru road section connecting Rasuwagadhi, an international trade gateway with China. The bridges will be completed within a year and a half. Currently, work is underway to upgrade the road from Galchhi to Syafru through Mailung including bridge construction.
DHADING, July 22: Nilkantha Municipality of Dhading had allocated Rs 140.2 million for construction of roads and bridges during the last fiscal year. Among the priority projects of the local unit, a few have been completed while the fate of some others hangs in the balance.
OKHALDHUNGA, May 27: A parliamentary committee recently inspected three under-construction concrete bridges in the Mid-Hill Highway which have been abandoned since years. The bridge of Khangsangbesi and Sokhu River in Fikal Rural Municipality as well as the Bridge of Badura River which falls in the border of Sindhuli and Udayapur were inspected by the Development and Technology Committee of the House of Representatives.
