ROLPA, Nov 30: Even though the first phase elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly were over, the concerned body is facing a security challenge for safe-keeping of the ballot boxes.

KATHMANDU, NOV 29- Ballot boxes used during the first phase of the House of Representatives and State Assemblies elections held Sunday (November 26) in 32 districts have already been collected safely in the respective district headquarters, the Election Commission said.

JAJARKOT, Nov 29: Three days after the first phase of parliamentary and provincial elections, ballot boxes from various parts of Jajarkot have finally arrived at the district headquarters Khalanga on Tuesday evening. Difficult topography and lack of road connectivity posed serious problem while transporting the ballot boxes.

JUMLA, Nov 29:  Even though the Ministry of Home Affairs had marked Jumla as a highly sensitive area in terms of security for the parliamentary and provincial polls, Sunday's election in the district was largely peaceful and systematic. However, the safety of ballot boxes for the next ten days has become a new challenge for authorities of the district.

DHADING Nov 27: Helicopter is being used to transport ballot boxes from remote areas to the district headquarter, Dhading Besi. A chopper was used to bring 51 ballot boxes from 20 rural municipalities of eastern Dhading, chief district officer Shyam Prasad Bhandari said adding that the chopper was used in areas marked highly sensitive.

WEST RUKUM, Nov 27: An unidentified group hurled bomb at staff transporting ballot boxes from Chaurjahari to Musikot, the district’s head quarter. The bomb detonated at Ghartikada of Chaurjahari municipality-6.

KATHMANDU, Nov 27: As the security of the ballot boxes remains the main concern of all political parties, the government has made an arrangement to first collect the ballot boxes at nearby collection centers before transporting them to the district headquarters on Monday.

ILAM, Nov 27: Ballot boxes from several polling booths of Panchthar and Taplejung districts have already been brought to the center. However, it might take one more day for the security forces to bring the boxes from remote zones.

RUKKUM, Nov 26: Voting at Kada of Bafikot and Gausaina of Athbiskot rural municipalities have stopped after unidentified personnel poured acid on the ballot boxes. The Chief District Officer, Bansi Kumar Acharya said that details are yet to arrive from the location.

KATHMANDU, July 1: With discrepancies in the numbers of ballot papers at vote counting centers, the Election Commission (EC) has instructed election officers at the local units not to recognize ballot papers other than those sealed in the ballot boxes.
