KATHMANDU, March 15: The National Identification Number (NIN) will be provided at the time of birth registration from now onward. The Department of National ID and Civil Registration (DoNIDCR) has issued a circular to the local bodies and the Nepali diplomatic missions abroad to provide NIN at the time of birth registration.

BHERIGANGA (SURKHET), Sept 16: As many as 26,000 children have not been registered during their birth in Karnali Province.

KATHMANDU, Dec 12: A study has shown that parents face various problems in acquiring birth certificates for their children. A preliminary report released by a Nepal-based research institute has suggested reforming laws in order to facilitate parents to register the birth of their children.

KATHMANDU, August 5: A senior government official has revealed that the number of children whose births are legally recorded with government bodies within 35 days of their births, as required by the existing law, is just six percent in Nepal.
