KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Tangiyabasti located in Jitpursimara Sub-metropolitan City-16 of Bara has been electrified. The area had not been electrified for years because of the construction of the proposed Nijgadh International Airport. Because of this, the residents of Tangiya were forced to live in the dark.

Son on the run after killing his mother

Bara, Sept 16: A person has been absconding after killing his mother with a sharp object. According to Hobindra Bogati, Superintendent of Police (SP), the victim was identified as Dhanvandhi Devi from Kalaiya  Sub- metropolis-7, Rangpur. She was killed by her son Jay Kishore yadav.

JANAKPURDHAM, Sept 4: A gunfight broke out between police and a group of bandits who came to rob a factory in Bara. In the middle of the night, the police clashed with a group of robbers who had come to loot Aerotech Pvt Ltd, a gas cylinder manufacturing company located at Bhaluhi, Jeetpursimara Sub-metropolitan City-23.

RAUTAHAT, Aug 16: The Regional Office of Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM) at Rautahat has taken action against 19 petrol pumps in Bara, Parsa and Rauthat for cheating customers.

Villagers in Bara still terrified

BARA, April 8: Krishna Sah, 35, of Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan city lost his home to the first ever tornado recorded in Nepal that struck the central part of the southern plains of the nation on March 31. Since then, he has been reduced to spending his nights in the meager segment of the shed originally built for his livestock. With him, his livestock and the relief materials he has received from various agencies cover a majority of the shed.

BARA, April 8: Ijhar Miya of Puranaiya village laments his inability to build a strong house like that of his neighbor. He says that he was destitute in the past and is still so. “I was never capable of building a strong house. As such my neighbor’s home resisted the storm, mine did not,” he said.

KATHMANDU, April 6:  Bara and Parsa districts were hit by a tornado, the first recorded wind-induced disaster of the country, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. Earlier, myrepublica.com had reported that the disaster was “probably the first wind storm” disaster on of the country. Earlier, the DHM had classified the wind as a gale at 30 knots.

KATHMANDU, April 6: Provincial governments, parliamentarians, political leaders, aid agencies and civil societies have provided Rs. 40 million altogether for the victims of a wind storm in Bara and Parsa districts.

On March 31, 2019, Bara and Parsa were hit by the country’s first wind storm killing 28 and injuring more than 700 people. Pheta rural municipality of Bara was worst hit by the wind storm. Since then, both the federal and the local government have pledged support to treat the injured and rebuild homes.
