BAJHANG, Sept 9: The district hospital of Bajhang and private medical centers have been jam-packed with the patients of viral infections. Most of them are from the rural villages and have high fever. According to the medical superintendent of the district hospital, Sandip Okheda, viral fever has gripped the people here for the last two weeks. "Hundreds of people are coming to the hospital for treatment. The situation is chaotic," he said. "People are getting sick due to the changing season, consumption of dirty water, the recent floods and so on," he added.
CHAINPUR, June 23: A journalists' network has been formed to work for mitigation of all kinds of violence against women in Bajhang district. The network has been formed at the initiative of Sancharika Samuha Nepal.

The virus has not just been transmitted to their wives but also to one of their children. Being horrified by the result of the blood tests, which showed all of them HIV positive, the two brothers along with their wives and an infant ran away to India all over again instead of taking medicines.

BAJHANG, June 14: Some women in Bajhang have announced that they will vote for candidates in the upcoming local level elections who express commitment to end the tradition of chhaupadi. They have openly forwarded this demand to mayoral candidates of Maoists (Center), CPN-UML and Nepali congress, among other political parties, during the latter’s door to door election campaign.
BAJHANG, March 23: Most rivers in Bajhang are not very clean because locals throw dead cattle into them, wash clothes and above all defecate on their banks. Despite knowing how much the water is impure the same locals are forced to drink water from these rivers as other water sources are drying up fast.
BAJHANG, Feb 8: For Bajhang, toilets are a recently introduced novelty. Within some years they have become ubiquitous. However, male and elder female members of 20 villages in the district have decided to keep them off limits to women during menstruation and during post-delivery period, at least.
BAJHANG, Jan 31: Pregnant women and new mothers in over two dozen of VDCs in Bajhang district have been deprived of iodized salt as the salt has not been supplied to those areas. The women say they hardly have any idea about the salt. The government has limited the availability of iodized salt only to the district headquarters Chainpur, depriving locals of remote areas of the much-needed salt.
BAJHANG, Oct 6: An acute shortage of foodstuffs has gripped many rural villages of Bajhang, a district in the far-western Nepal,forcing the people to eat wild fruits for survival. The people of the affected villages including Kanda have started eating wild fruits and Sisnu plants (urtica dioica) for the survival.
