Kishor Jyoti is an artist based in Kathmandu, Nepal. Jyoti, also known as Young Flame Artist, describes his style as realism with a hint of surrealism. If you stumble upon artist Ashim Shakya’s recent works, we wouldn’t blame you if you thought it was a film poster for a dark dystopian movie, perhaps the prequel to Apocalypse Now. Shakya specializes in graphic illustrations he categorizes as surreal but based on reality. And what’s more, Shakya is also a musician.
Around 73 artworks including paintings, drawings and sculptures by late veteran artist Uttam Kharel is on display at Nepal Art Council, Babermahal. The exhibition began on March 17 and is organized by Sirjana College of Fine Arts.

Even in his 50s, singer Sanjay Shrestha claims to feel young at heart. He initiated his musical journey in 1992 with his band, Crossroads. Singer Sapana Shree has made her comeback to the Nepali music with her new single, ‘Gumsiyera Biteka’. The song was premiered via YouTube on August 19 by Songs Nepal. Ambika Gawali, and Om Karmacharya are the lyricist and composer, respectively, of Shree’s comeback song.
“When I was in the village, I used to do household chores and take care of my son. After 10 years of settling in Kathmandu, I have started doing Thanka. It has been three years now since I have been learning and painting Thanka. Earlier, I was mostly engaged with my child, who is 14 now,” said Devi Lama, 35, from Ramechhap.
