The recent increase in foreign tourist arrivals to Nepal is a promising sign for the country's tourism industry, which has been severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. The arrival of over 73,000 tourists in February 2023, compared to just over 9,000 in the same month the previous year, shows that the country’s ailing tourism industry is gradually on the path of recovery.
POKHARA, July 7: The Gandaki provincial government has said that it would start preparation for maintaining database of foreign tourists visiting Pokhara city. Local authorities have been saying that around 40 percent of total tourists visiting Nepal travel to Pokhara. But this is just a conservative estimate. There is no mechanism so far to calculate number of tourists visiting Pokhara.
KATHMANDU, June 21: Tourist arrivals in May this year have increased by 9.6 percent compared to the figures of May 2017. According to the Department of Immigration, a total of 68,825 international tourists visited Nepal in May 2018.

KATHMANDU, July 28: After facing many ups and downs in the past couple of years, foreign tourist arrivals recorded a healthy growth of 28 percent in the first half of 2017.
According to the Department of Immigration, Nepal welcomed a total of 460,304 foreign tourists via air in the first six months of 2017, compared to 359,672 in the first half of 2016.
BARDIYA, Oct 23: The number of tourists visiting the Bardiya National Park (BNP) increased by 42 per cent and reached 1,221 in the first three months of the current fiscal year 2016/17 in compared to the correspondent period last year.
