KATHMANDU, April 29: Five student unions affiliated to different political parties submitted a two-point memorandum on Sunday to Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada, demanding allocation of at least 20 percent budget to the education sector for the upcoming fiscal year.

KATHMANDU, April 7: Ministry of Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives is preparing to allocate conditional grant to the local levels for the development of agricultural sector. As the ministry received several complaints from farmers and other stakeholders that the agricultural budget of current fiscal year 2017/18 was spent in non-agricultural sectors, the ministry now has decided to allocate conditional grants to the local levels for upcoming Fiscal Year 2018/19. The ministry has started discussing with the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Federal Affairs & Local Development in this regard.

ARGHAKHACHI, March 28: Some of the local bodies have allocated very low budget to purchase medicine that is distributed free at public health posts. While some locals are concerned that such low budget would further deteriorate already sorry health scenario in the district, local body representatives are confident that they can address the shortage after analyzing the situation.
