LONDON, Mar 9: Campaigners for gender equality took to European city streets on Friday to mark International Women’s Day with celebrations and protests, while in Turkey police fired tear gas to break up a crowd of several thousand women in Istanbul in the evening.

And, according to our light, our understanding, and our courage, we will have to say yea or nay- and rise!” affirmed American Author Maya Angelou. Living in a highly patriarchal society where stigma associated with being a victim of violence is taken as a crime, we often suffer in the silence.
Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Peter Budd launched the book ‘Silence No Longer: Artivism of Ashmina’ in an event organized at Hotel Shanker, Lazimpat on Tuesday. The book was published with the support from the Australian Embassy which highlights the contribution of artist Ashmina Ranjit to linking arts and activism in Nepal.
