KATHMANDU, March 22: Rajaram Thapa lies helpless in the emergency ward of the Teaching Hospital while his mother, who is herself ailing, tries to console him. Hardly able to speak or look around, the 26-year-old who was attacked with acid 13 days ago, reportedly by his wife, knows that his family cannot afford to pay for his treatment. Over Rs 300,000 has already been spent so far and doctors said a few more costly surgeries are still needed. According to the victim’s elder brother Subhuraj Thapa, there is no money for further treatment.
MAKAWANPUR, Nov 3: Acid attack was not heard of in Nepal before it happened to a beautiful girl from Hetauda on one fateful day. It was six years ago. Bindabasini Kansakar, who used to be considered a very beautiful and brilliant girl in the locality, was thrown acid on her face by an acquaintance. She was 20 then and studying in grade 12 in a nearby college. Her dreams were big and confidence high.
KATHMANDU, Oct 23: Brought to Kirtipur Hospital after suffering an acid attack a month and a half ago, Muskan Khatun, 14, is under the care of doctors and nurses full time. She is given painkillers and other medication to keep her calm. But she screams out intermittently in sheer agony. At other times also there is pain written all over her face. She is gradually losing weight and looks frail.

KATHMANDU, Sept 12: Acid attack survivor Muskan Khatun had endured months of harassment from her perpetrators before she was attacked with acid last Friday, family members said. Khatun was on her way to her school when three local youths splashed acid on her at Ganeshman Chowk in Birgunj. Police said Khatun had rejected ‘love proposal’ from of one of the attackers before she became their target.

JANAKPURDHAM, Sept 25: The province 2 government has expressed its sadness over the death of Samjhana Das of Chandranigapur of Rautahat who was severely injured in an acid attack on September 11. The government has also announced additional compensation to the bereaved family.
KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Following the death of one of the acid attack victims of Rautahat on Sunday, the family members of the victims have demanded strong action against the perpetrator. They have also expressed dissatisfaction toward the lack of support from the government.
KATHMANDU, Sept 24: Samjhana Das, 18, one of the two sisters who was undergoing treatment after an acid attack, has died on Sunday night in Kirtipur Hospital at 11:40 PM after infections spread to other parts of the body, Dr. Surendra Basnet said.
