KATHMANDU, Dec 21: Prasuna Dongol, while studying filmmaking in the UK, returned to Nepal a total of five times during her four year undergraduate program. “I returned a month after going to the UK. I just missed home too much,” she says. In all the times she came back to Nepal, she traveled extensively to several places like Manang, Mustang, and Annapurna Base Camp, to name a few. “I could have gone trekking in the UK or in some other country but there is this innate sense of belonging when in comes to Nepal,” she says.

KASKI, Sept 16: A tourist trekking in the Annapurna area has gone missing after being swept away by a river.

The idea of traveling fascinated Tanahu’s Renuka Thapa from her school days. She started traveling as a school student, attending excursions and educational tours. While on her visit to Pokhara, she was captivated by the gestures of travelers carrying cameras and bulky bag packs. She then dreamt of living a similar life.

KATHMANDU, April 29: Tourism entrepreneurs have proposed branding the Juphal-Dolpo trail as the 'Ambassador Trail' and promoting virgin, mountainous Dolpo of the Karnali region as a new tourist destination.

DOLPA, April 13: Three former ambassadors of India to Nepal have arrived for observing the natural beauty and religious heritages in Dolpa district.

Arjun Tamang can be seen performing errands at ‘Welcome Cafe’, Bhrikutimandap. He is 18 years old, and also works as an assistant trekking guide. He is originally from Kavrepalanchowk district, and came to Kathmandu two years ago. He recently completed his high school education from Sahid Smarak College, Kirtipur. Currently, he is living alone in Kirtipur. He came to Kathmandu for education, leaving behind his parents, a younger brother and a sister. He says, “I am working in the café for pocket money. I know the value of education, so I am planning to enrol in the bachelor’s level soon. I see myself as a professional trekking guide in the future.”

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: A two-day 'Bird Watching Training for Trekking Guides' organized by Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) in association with Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Bird Conservation Nepal (BCN) concluded on Monday.

KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) has earmarked nearly Rs 100 million for exploration of new trekking trails, maintenance of existing trails and building infrastructure on major trails as well as promotion in domestic and international market.
