JHAPA, April 3: Two new cases of Kala-azar have been confirmed in Jhapa, a district in the Terai region of Koshi Province. Similar cases were reported in the previous years as well.

SAPTARI, Dec 24: Dipping temperature and cold wave have affected normal life in the tarai districts. Several schools have declared holiday while flow of patients at hospitals has remarkably increased. According to the district education office, over 102 schools have been shut down due to excessive cold.

BARA, April 8: Krishna Sah, 35, of Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan city lost his home to the first ever tornado recorded in Nepal that struck the central part of the southern plains of the nation on March 31. Since then, he has been reduced to spending his nights in the meager segment of the shed originally built for his livestock. With him, his livestock and the relief materials he has received from various agencies cover a majority of the shed.
