PANCHTHAR, July 21: Some eastern hill districts including Panchthar, Taplejung, and Tehrathum have been disconnected from the national road network since Thursday morning due to a huge landslide along the Mechi Highway at Pangrebhir.
TEHRATHUM, Sept 8: There are roads, but no bridges. Locals of Tehrathum district lament that they have not been able to enjoy transportation facility due to 'insensible' development. Even though there are dozens of rivers from Chiyobhanjyang of Panchthar district in the east to Jhulaghat of Baitadi district in the west, the mid-hills highway that links the two points lack adequate number of motorable bridges. The road which is a national pride project has hence failed to give relief to people.
KATHMANDU, Dec 10: CPN-UML candidate Bhawani Khapung, who fought the parliamentary elections with the backing of left alliance, emerged victorious with 21,335 votes. His closest rival Sita Gurung of Nepali Congress got 19,314 votes.
TEHRATHUM, Nov 7: With the second phase of elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies just around the corner, election fever has gripped Tehrathum, a district of the Province-1 in eastern Nepal.
TEHRATHUM, June 22: Though the electoral law requires parties to field women candidates accounting for 40 percent of their total candidates, there is not even a single woman among the candidates they have fielded in 43 wards of Tehrathum district.
TEHRATHUM, Nov 9: Radhika Pokhrel, a woman from Solma village of the district, who went to Australia years ago has not only not forgotten her roots back home but also helped many organisations as well as needy individuals, becoming a good Samaritan.
